30’ wide x 20’ high (approx.) In this church, approximately 30 years ago, a Sacred Heart of Jesus mural was painted over. When Henning Restoration was hired to redecorate the church in 2007 it was decided it was time to replace the lost mural with a new one.
The idea of the painting is that Jesus has just stepped from Heaven through the marble arch and is welcoming all that enter the church with open arms.
The figure is 8’ tall and has a 23k gold leaf halo. The figure and arch were painted on canvas in my studio. After installation of the canvas I added the sky and steps. There were also gold leaf stars added to the top of the sky.
